If any of you ladies read Beauty & Fashion magazines you will have seen that orange lips are everywhere for spring and Summer and if Paris Fashion week is any indication then the trend is set to run through to AW14 with shows by Peter Pilotto & Fendi showcasing tangerine lips.
I decided to see how the look has filtered down to high street level, with many ‘Drug Store’ brands releasing their own take on the citrus lip.
Here’s what I found:
Firstly I tried the bargain basement version by Chit Chat.
Chit Chat Juicy Lipstick cost £1.00 and is available from Poundland, it comes as a Peach chubby pencil and was a very pale orange colour in the tube and goes on extremely sheer it’s definitely one for beginners who want to give a very subtle nod to the orange lip trend.
Next I went for Miss Sporty Perfect colour Lipstick in ‘On Fire’ £2.79 available from Superdrug.
This was by far my favourite!! It comes in a black case with a see through Perspex window. In the tube it looks like a very bright vivid Orange but on the lips it looks like a Vibrant Orange based red. Definitely for those ladies who like their colour with plenty of pop!
Then I tried Sleek Pout Paint in ‘Lava’ £4.99 available from Superdrug or www.sleekmakeup.com
As a huge fan of sleek products I really wanted to try this! This is definitely for those brave ladies wanting to make a statement.
This goes on a VERY Bright orange. When blotted it does go to a nice burnt orange but I’m not sure it suited my skin tone. I think it would look great on Olive or darker skin.
Collection Colour Pro Intense colour Lip Laquer in ‘Show Off’ was next only £2.99 – available at Boots.
This Lip Laquer was really vibrant in the tube but went on the lips as a nice peachy colour. I’m not a huge fan of Sticky Glosses but I really liked the colour so I would definitely put this in my bag as a perfect day to night product.
Then it was Bourjois Colour Boost in ‘Orange Punch’ £7.99 – Available at Boots Again this is a chubby pencil in a Bright orange. I was a little disappointed that the colour wasn’t more vibrant on the lips as once again it goes to a nice subtle Peachy Orange. I am a huge fan of the Bourjois Colour boost range, I have a number of colours and I think it would be perfect for an everyday take on the orange lip trend.
Lastly was the MUA Power Pout Tint & Balm in ‘Justify’ Only £3.00 – available at Superdrug.
Once again this comes in a vibrant chubby format. In the tube it looks like a bright orange but goes on a much subtler. The shade of this is very much like the Bourjois – infact it’s nearly identical and at half the price it’s not a bad Tint to have in your bag to add colour throughout the day.
So that’s my take on the Orange lip trend, I hope it was informative please let me know if you have tried any of these products or any others that I haven’t mentioned.
